Rapid Moves hip-hop grooves dance DVD and accessories

(Frequently Asked Questions)

Do I need to do the WARM UP each time? – YES! Please start each and every session with at least 2 rounds of warm up to ensure your body is warmed up sufficiently to dance. Then do the strength and stretch as well.

How does the warm up work? The warm up is like follow the leader…we'll show you the moves and you join in as soon as you can. Keep moving as much as possible so that you can raise your heart rate and a good sweat. Pump it up for a harder workout.

What is MIRROR IMAGE - If we step to the right or call right we mean – your right. Whe the r we are facing you or have our back to you, move the same way as we do, in the private lessons and class sections. Note the performance section is NOT mirrored.

What if I can't get a move? Go back to LEARN THE MOVES, slow it back down. Repeat the instructions as many times as you like. Some moves will come quickly – some will take longer.

What if I feel ‘unco' or uncoordinated? Every time you learn a new move for a while it does not make sense to your muscles. Repeating the move over and over allows your muscles to recognise the move. Once your muscles recognise the move it won't feel awkward any more.

Should I learn the moves in order? We recommend starting with Move 1 and working your way through in order, as it will make it easier to remember the routine.

How many moves should I learn? Learn as many moves at a time as you feel you can remember and do well. One at a time is always a good way to go. Learn 1 move a day, a session or a week.

I am having trouble with a move! Some moves you will master straight away while o the rs will need some more practice. The aim is that you will find some easy, some a little tricky and some a real challenge. Don't give up!

How long will it take me to get the move? Those that are a real challenge may take you weeks to master. Mostly this is because the moves are more complicated and involve several body parts working independently of each o the r in a way that is not necessarily natural!

How long will it take me to learn the whole DVD? This DVD is a 6 - 10 week program depending on your level of dance ability. As a beginner or intermediate dancer you are not supposed to learn & master everything in one session. (Experienced dancers will be exceptions)

What if I get into a muddle? If you find your self in a muddle go back to the LEARN THE MOVES option and clear up any moves that you are having trouble with. HINT: Say the moves aloud! This will help you remember the m more quickly.

What is the CLASS option for? Use this option to practice putting all the individual moves you've learned toge the r. Keep repeating this section until you can remember the moves before I show you or tell you what comes next.

What is the PERFORM option for? Choose the Perform option and dance your heart out with us and the n by yourself NO HELP REQUIRED! We can help you by dancing with us – or completely without us to your favorite piece of music. HINT: Start with a slow piece of music and the n gradually use faster pieces once you feel confident.

MORE? Add your own beginnings and endings!

THEN? Join all three dances toge the r for a full routine. Add an introduction, some transitions and an ending!

FINALLY? Choreograph your own sections by using the moves on the Rapid Moves DVD. Mix the m up, change the m a little and create your own choreographic masterpiece.
